«But that bigness has two sides: In Houston, the city is so spread out that the police can't keep on top of it all, all the criminals and the con artists see all that space and think: unlimited opportunity»

-Andy loved it when Victor showed up at 54 in a jockstrap or at a Halston party in a Halston dress, in both cases much to Halston's embarrassment. Victor later told me that Andy actually paid him to do these things. He said Andy would slip him some cash and tell him: »Okay, whore, go out there and do something».
Both Andy and Man Ray, with whom I worked in the seventies, taught me the same thing; don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide whether it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they're deciding, make even more art.
It was a Paloma Picasso day. Went to breakfast at Tiffany's for her. The jewelry was pretty but I have the same stuff from the forties. It's copies from the forties. And Paloma did her little heart-shaped Elsa thing. It was expensive stuff-$27 000 for a bracelet.
«It never ceases to amaze me: the hypocrisy of the church, especially the Catholic Church.
«Look at Andy. All of a sudden he is gone. All I have to remember and keep him alive is all of the things he left. Everything, every memory becomes invaluable, timeless. But the «things» will survive me, the memories wil die with me»
Most «modern » painting is lost in formal investigation, which better serves a puirsuit of «science of materials» than a true pursuit of images, and interventions, and art»
Militant Islam is now for the worst, copying an important aspect of Judaism. Mixing religion with ethnicity...The Toulouse killer didn't felt French or Algerian first. He felt Muslim first. And as such, in a kind of strange and flexible «ethnic sense of belonging mixed with religion», he acted in an horryfing way to avenge his muslim brother in Afghanistan and the muslim children in Palestine.

«He achieved his first recognition in 1981 at a New York/New Wave group show at the Long Island City gallery PS 1. Both Warhol's old friend Henry Geldzahler and his Swiss art dealer, Bruno Bischofberger attented the show and were impressed with Basquiat work. Back in 1979, during lunch one saturday with Geldzahler in a SoHo restaurant , Andy had met Jean-Michel and bought a one-dollar postcard reproduction of ne of his paintings from him, but even after Basquiat's career began to take off in the years that followed, Warhol remained aloof of Basquiat's efforts to gain entry to the Factory
«La première fois que j'ai vu Madonna, j'étais à Paris, je regardais la télé et je l'ai vu à Top Of The Pops pour son tube «Holiday». J'ai été fasciné par sa façon de danser, son look. Elle était belle, très bien habillée. J'étais persuadée qu'elle était anglaise...»

Living a very long life could be harmful to your health.
Au vingt et unième siècle l'anglais n'est pas la langue de l'impérialisme américain. Elle est celle de l'impérialisme chinois.
He was a great democratic influence. Once we were walking down the strret when a black limousine pulled up and a dark window rolled down and there was Diana Ross, screaming out «Andy, Andy, come say hello». Andy didn't hide in a stretch limo: he was out there for everyone, whether it was Diana Ross or a tourist from Ohio. Andy travelled by taxi; he was the star in the streets.
After I introduced Steve to Andy-who waited until the 54 bandwagon got rolling before he jumped on-a new element
«Following in the filmic footsteps of such fascinating françaises as Mlles Bardot and Moreau, Catherine cites her brief encounter with director Roger Vadim (a liaison that resulted in two screen roles and a son out of wedlock) as her life's turning poit: «My career is a starry offshoot of my past. That past is Vadim»
