«EVERYBODY CAN DO WHAT I DO»

Les séries telles «Most Wanted Man» ou encore «Dead and Disasters».

The immersive experience that results seems fitting for an artist described in a telephone interview by the author Camille Paglia as “totally in the senses.” Ms. Paglia, who has contributed an essay to the exhibition catalog, delivered a passionate defense of Mr. Bowie as a major artist and as a counter against what she called the “word-drunk, word-centered, body-phobic” tendencies of postmodernism.
“He is a product of Surrealism, of Dada, of the Modernist arts,” she said. “He is body-based, always completely in the role he is playing. His tremendous physical virtuosity, his understanding of costume and how it is an imaginative projection of your body, is part of the biggest thing about him: he is so deeply emotional. «IT'S CALLED GOSSIP AND OF COURSE IT'S AN OBSESSION OF MINE»

Despite disbanding its authentication body last year, the Keith Haring Foundation has intervened over an exhibition that it says was full of fakes. The show, Haring Miami, featured nearly 200 works purporting to be by the late artist. It was held in the Moore Building in Miami’s Design District, and a good crowd attended the $250-a-head VIP opening. Within four days, however, only 10 works remained on the walls – the foundation had raced to court and obtained the withdrawal of 165 others. The organisers, Michael Rosen and Colored Thumb Productions, said in a lawyer’s statement that they had taken the works down “in an abundance of caution” and that: “Mr Rosen was assured by the owners of the disputed artwork that it was indeed authentic.”

In court, foundation director Julia Gruen said she recognised about 25 works that had previously been reviewed and rejected. Asked why the foundation was intervening despite abandoning authentication, its lawyer Michael Stout said: “The mission of a foundation is to use its resources for its charitable work, not providing authentication services for a small number of people. But when there are egregious violations, then it has to intervene, because otherwise fakes seep into the art market, and everyone suffers.”

Spielberg: I don’t think “Schindler’s List” would have compelled me to the extent that it did, had I not been part of a deeply Jewish Orthodox experience growing up. I was raised Orthodox, then became Conservative and eventually became Reform.
I don’t think “Schindler’s List” would have had the hold that it has had on me had my parents not been such good teachers, and had not my grandparents [immigrants from the Odessa region of Ukraine] risked frightening me to death with horrendous stories of what happened to their friends and relatives in Eastern Europe during the Holocaust.
I grew up with all these scary stories as a little kid. And, indeed, learned to count by reading the numbers tattooed on the arm of a Hungarian survivor, in Cincinnati, in 1948 and ’49, when I was 2 to 3 years old. I think the book [“Schindler’s Ark”] by Thomas Keneally probably would not have come to my attention had I not been opened to it. «I'M A GOOD CATHOLIC»

« Papus interruptus », a-t-on pu lire.

WONDERING...

How come nobody ever did a serious and very complete art interview with Madonna about her New York days in the 1980's when she started surrounded by Basquiat and Haring? Quite unbelievable...

«GOOD BUSINESS IS THE BEST ART»

Picked up Jean Michel and he has people ringing his bell every fifteen seconds. It reminded me
of the old Factory. He says things like; «Listen man, why don't you call before you come over»
A guy he'd given fun drawings to once when he was needing a place to stay sold them now for a fortune-$5000 or something. So Jean Michel's finding out how you have to be a business.
