«He achieved his first recognition in 1981 at a New York/New Wave group show at the Long Island City gallery PS 1. Both Warhol's old friend Henry Geldzahler and his Swiss art dealer, Bruno Bischofberger attented the show and were impressed with Basquiat work. Back in 1979, during lunch one saturday with Geldzahler in a SoHo restaurant , Andy had met Jean-Michel and bought a one-dollar postcard reproduction of ne of his paintings from him, but even after Basquiat's career began to take off in the years that followed, Warhol remained aloof of Basquiat's efforts to gain entry to the Factory
