CHRISTOPHER MAKOS

«He was a good exemple of the kind of exuberant, ambitious good looking guy who made the gay scene so attractive and influential in the late seventies. He loved to travel, go to parties, make money, meet new people get high and laugh. Above all he was audacious, intelligent but unintellectual and primitive. Andy loved to take photographs of Christopher having sex»

WHAT 99% OF GAY MEN UNDERSTAND AND WHAT 99% OF FEMINISTS DON'T.

As for male/female relations, she says that they are far more complex than most feminists insist. ‘I wrote a date-rape essay in 1991 in which I called for women to stand up for themselves and learn how to handle men. But now you have this shibboleth, “No means no.” Well, no. Sometimes “No” means “Not yet”. Sometimes “No” means “Too soon”. Sometimes “No” means “Keep trying and maybe yes”. You can see it with the pigeons on the grass. The male pursues the female and she turns away, and turns away, and he looks a fool but he keeps on pursuing her. And maybe she’s testing his persistence; the strength of his genes… It’s a pattern in the animal kingdom — a courtship pattern…’ But for pointing such things out, Paglia adds, she has been ‘defamed, attacked and viciously maligned’ — so, no, she is not in the least surprised that wolf-whistling has now been designated a hate crime in Birmingham.

«IT'S CALLED GOSSIP AND OF COURSE, IT'S AN OBSESSION OF MINE»

PHILOSOPHY FOR THE 21st CENTURY: SEX

Only a woman living in Alice in Wonderland could say that sex should always include a verbal yes or no before the relationship! What a fucking dumb, and ignorant statement about sexuality and human nature. You know why gay men are always silent when they hear that kind of ridiculous affirmation? They are too busy laughing their ass off!

BUT, HE TOUCHED MY THIGH!

The US electoral campaign is almost over and nobody talked about the fact that neither Trump or Clinton promised to stop the selling of military equipment to Saudi Arabia. If that doesn't says it all.....

«ART IS WHAT YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH»

COMMONPLACE

«Warhol accepts rather than questions our popular habits and heroes.  By accepting their inevitability,
they are easier to deal with than if they are opposed....We accept the glorified legend in preference to the actuality of our immediate experiences,  so much so that the legend becomes commonplace and, finally, devoid of the very qualities which first interested us».

INTERVIEW WITH EDWARD LUCIE-SMITH: 1981

Edward Smith: Would you like to see your pictures on as many walls as possible, then?
Andy Warhol: Uh, no, I like them in closets.
Edward Smith: Why is it more of a pleasure to do 30 or 40 pictures than to do just one?
Andy Warhol: Then I can, uh, listen to my soundabout which looks just like the thing that I'm wearing now, and you can listen to opera and stuff like that.
Edward Smith: Does that mean you don't have to think when you're painting?
Andy Warhol: No, you can listen to really good music.
Edward Smith: So, what, painting is an excuse to listen to really good music?
Andy Warhol: Oh, yeah.

Edward Smith: What do you think is the characteristic of a really nice person? Some people you obviously do like more than others.
Andy Warhol: Ummm, well, if they talk a lot.
Edward Smith: What, and don't make you talk?
Andy Warhol: Yeah, yes, that's a really nice person.
Edward Smith: Thank you, Andy.

«IT'S CALLED GOSSIP AND OF COURSE IT'S AN OBSESSION OF MINE»

«I JUST READ EVERYTHING»

I am saying that the belief that you should die for making fun of a book or a prophet is much more mainstream in Islamic culture than it is in other cultures. In fact, death for leaving the religion, death for making fun of the religion, death by stoning for adultery, death in a number of countries for just for being gay. I have never come across a culture where “we kill you” is the answer to more issues, and I am an American. So that’s not bigotry; that’s just the way it is in the world. I know that liberals get their back up about this. But I find it very ironic because liberals are supposed to defend liberal principles. And certainly the First Amendment — I have said this before — liberals should own the First Amendment the way conservatives own the Second Amendment.
