“ Let's say you decide you have an OK face, a great body , medium money and no power or prestige. That means you should go after other people who also have two mediums, a terrific and a nothing. It's not supposed to matter which categories the different things fall in as long as it's two mediums, one terrific one nothing»

«My closes friend in the world was Barry Schwartz who is now my business partner. When we were five year old he already had a genius for making money. In the summertime we would stand on the street corner selling ice water for five cents. We would get the ice water from my grand-mother shop's right around the corner. When we were eight we sold newspapers. Barry would buy the Daily News and the Mirror for three cents and we would sell it for seven. And then all of the money would be on the table and Barry wouldn't let me touch any of it. For him to touch money would be like having an orgasm»

Fascinating to see how all these ageing women trying so hard to look young end up looking actually older than they are. Normal. The first thing you think when you see them is; Gosh, she seems to try so hard to look young , she must not but old, but very very old. »

«I think the girl who's standing on the street corner should pay the guy who comes up to her, because she's hot, right? The guy's not hot, she's hot, right? She's the prostitute, but she's hot and she should pay the person that wants it. She should be on easy street and pay the person for doing it to her, don't you think. I think it should be that way. She should just have a lot of money from the city to pay him.»
According to artnet, the 10 most expensive lots sold at auction so far this year alone have accounted for 669 million or over 5% of total global auction sales by value in 2013.* With the exception of Norman Rockwell’s Saying Graceand Alberto Giacometti’s bronze Grande tête mince (Grande tête de Diego), these lots were all from the post-war and contemporary category and all of them were sold in New York.

«It's the movies that have really been running things in America ever since they were invented. They show you what to do, how to do it, when to do it, how you feel about it, and how to look how you feel about it. When they show you how to kiss like James Dean or hook like Jane Fonda or win like Rocky, that's great».

«If in my youth I had realized that the sustaining splendour of beauty of with which I was in love would one day flood back into my heart, there to ignite a flame that would torture me without end, how gladly would I have put out the light in my eyes. "
Both Andy and Man Ray, with whom I worked in the seventies, taught me the same thing; don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide whether it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they're deciding, make even more art.
People say we are what we have. They're wrong. We have what we are...
Philip Hoffman, chief executive of the Fine Art Fund Group, an investment and advisory firm, doesn't see a bubble for the art market as a whole. "There are going to be bubbles in certain artists," he tells CNNMoney. "It's the trophy lots that are making the huge money." He notes that buyers of those pieces "want a show-off picture by a brand name artist."

«We went over to where Fassbinder was filming this movie called «Querelle» by Genet. Brad Davis is the star of it. I got my picture taken with Brad and I got his autograph on an ashtray for Jon. Met Fassbinder and he was wearing outrageous clothes, the leopard-skin jodhpurs, and one of the guys standing there said he thought Fassbinder had dressed up like that just for me because he usually wears just plain black leather. He looked like a circus trainer. And Brad Davis looks so strange, so delicate-looking. Much better than he did on the cover of Interview».
A straight guy is someone who gets smarter as he gets older. A gay man is the opposite.
If young people want to be faithful but cannot and old people want to be unfaithful but no longer can what does 45 year old men & women want? I guess they want to be faithful and unfaithful at the same time because they can do both.
19 November 2013, Oxford, UK:
Mr. Moses said that it shouldn’t be all that surprising that a few trophy paintings were selling for more than $100 million, even as the broad market languished. “There are over 2,000 billionaires,” he said. “If they’re putting together an art collection for 10 to 15 percent of their assets, they can invest at least $600 million in art. And a lot of them have many billions. So when they look for a centerpiece for their collections, they’ll reach for over $100 million. That’s not unusual given their relative wealth.”
Warhol is still interesting, and immensely influential: largely responsible, for good or ill, for Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst and Lady Gaga. He was a visionary who saw a new age coming over the horizon, the age of celebrity. But to call him America’s Picasso, as some of Appleyard’s witnesses do, is astonishing. Picasso had more ideas than Warhol had cans of soup. Warhol had one idea, and used it again and again.

I never trust atheists or deeply religious people. But I always trust people with a deep awareness of all the past religions people no longer believe in. They always have the right attitude towards religions.
