Contrairement à ce qu'on pourrait facilement imaginer, le phénomène Kim Kardashian est intéressant pour ce qu'il nous dit de l'évolution du monde de l'art . En 1968 le roi du pop Art Andy Warhol déclarait:" In the future everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes» Or aujourd'hui ce n'est pas cette déclaration qui s'avère la plus pertinente, mais bien plutôt cette autre toujours de son cru: «The less something has to say the more perfect it is». De même Warhol disait que parfois les médias rendaient le crime glamorous mais que cela n'avait aucune importance, parce que de toute façon «more than anything people just want stars» (plus que toute autre chose, les gens veulent des stars) 

 D'autres éléments expliquent bien sur le phénomène Kardashian, outre la plastique parfaite de la star. Aujourd'hui un film à gros budgets doit être conçu de façon à trouver un écho partout à l'échelle mondiale. Poursuite de voitures dans différentes villes du monde etc. Kim Kardashian a pour sa part le physique planétaire parfait pour le marketing. Elle n'a l'air ni trop blanche, ni trop noire, ni trop latino, ni trop arabe, ni trop asiatique mais en même temps elle a un peu de tout cela, ce qui permet donc que les jeunes filles du monde entier puissent aisément s'identifier à elle. Or qui est Jean Paul Goude? Celui qui eut pour femme et muse polyvalente, l'incontournable Grace Jones. Cette même Grace Jones qui dans le New York des années 1980 avait pour amis Keith Haring, et Andy Warhol ( tous deux apparaissant dans son video «I'm not perfect») tout en ayant toutes ses pochettes d'album réalisées par Richard Bernstein, le désigner d'interview magazine pendant 15 ans. Et oui ce même Interview magazine fondé en 1969 par Andy Warhol. Une chose est sure en tout cas. Cette leçon de la filiation Warhol pour accéder à la célébrité highbrow, le couple Kim Kardashian/ Kayne West l'a clairement bien assimilée.

Warhol eludes every such attempt on Buchloh’s part to create a modernist pedigree for his art. “No, well, I don’t know” Warhol would say or “No, well, I didn’t think that way.” When asked specifically about the artistic impact of meeting Duchamp in the 1960s, Warhol responds “No, I didn’t know him that well.” And, in a moment of terrifically unambiguous rejection, Warhol answers a question about the influence of Picabia on his drawings of the 1950s by telling Buchloh that “I didn’t even know who that person was” at the time.
