PHILOSOPHY FOR THE 21st CENTURY: RELIGION
Islam claim the message to jews and christians was incomplete. Expect the rise of Mormons claiming the same in the future, but for the three previous religions.
ARTHUR DANTO ON ANDY WARHOL
«What makes him an American icon is that his subject matter is always something that the ordinary American understands: everything, or nearly everything he made art out of came straight out of the daily lives of very ordinary Americans. . . . The tastes and values of ordinary persons all at once were inseparable from advanced art.”

PHILOSOPHY FOR THE 21st CENTURY: STEREOTYPES
I like the idea of people saying stereotypes are never true and then watching eight black guys running the 100 meters final at the Olympics, a gay young guy looking effeminate and crying for Britney on You Tube, or a big fat girl with a buzz cut leading the womyn's center at her College. That's great.

«IT'S CALLED GOSSIP AND OF COURSE IT'S AN OBSESSION OF MINE»
Madonna has rounded up an impressive roster of collaborators for her next album, the follow-up to 2012′s MDNA. As she’s shown on Instagram, she’s teamed up with both reliable pop songwriters (MoZella, Symbolyc One, Toby Gad) and cutting-edge producers (Diplo, Avicii, maybe Disclosure) alike. Besides that, though, she’s revealed little else about the actual music: What does it sound like? When will it be released? How will it compare to her greatest hits?
So when William Orbit spoke up after hearing a few new Madonna songs – even with a statement as simple as “Heard some of Madonna’s new album. Sounds good” – fans sighed in relief. See, Orbit has collaborated with Madonna since 1998′s Ray of Light, while she was inspired by the current crop of European and U.K. electronic music at the time. Orbit went on to work with the pop icon in 2000′s Music and MDNA.

WARHOL STAR: JACKIE CURTIS
«Disguised as a beautiful 1930's picture starlet, Jackie Curtis travelled through the Manhattan Art Society in the early seventies: a physical manifestation of the dreams and idols so close to children. Jackie Curtis was so powerful in his defense of the noble fantasy world that all the boring people banded together to outmode our star. Alas, Jackie had to go into hiding for years as a boy. Now the time is right to free Jackie Curtis from the trap the boring people put him in».

AMERICAN MOVIES
«I like American films best, I think they're so great, they're so clear, they're so true, their surfaces are great. I like what they have to say: they don't really have much to say, that's why they're so good. I feel the less something has to say the more perfect it is».

«I LIKE MONEY ON THE WALL»
A key factor in the art market boom is the growth of global wealth. In 2013 there were a record 2,170 billionaires in the world, according to research group Wealth-X, and many have founded private museums or art spaces. Many of the new super-rich are far younger than the collectors of yesterday, and their tastes influence the high-impact immediacy of much contemporary art. The new collectors need living artists to keep the fairs, auctions, galleries and biennales afloat with new creations. In contrast, there is a shrinking inventory in other sections of the market, be it impressionist painting or Renaissance sculpture. The top works are in museums or in major collections. New buyers, however deep their pockets, would find it near-impossible to create a museum of anything except contemporary art.

PHILOSOPHY FOR THE 21st CENTURY: RELIGION
On cherche à combattre le fanatisme religieux, et on ne parle jamais des religions disparues. Meilleure façon de ne jamais réussir...
BOB COLACELLO & DIANE VON FURSTENBERG
“It is incredible how fascinated young people are with him,” the doyenne von Furstenberg said of her departed friend. “It’s funny, because he envisioned the way that things are now before anyone else . . . the icons and the branding. And I can only imagine how crazy he would be with Facebook and Instagram! He did all that before it even existed.”
“When the book first came out, I read it and thought, ‘Oh God, why did I put in so much detail about fights with Fred Hughes?!’ Colacello confessed. “But now, like Diane says, every little detail seems relevant because Andy’s so huge.” Taking a moment to reflect on the fact that Warhol achieved the supernova status for which he’d always endeavored, Colacello continued, “We’ve become like the Bloomsbury Group or something. It’s really weird, but it’s great. You know you can’t deny the past—good and bad—and I’m glad that I have a past.”

JAY Z, KAYNE WEST, PHARRELL: THE LESSON OF ART HISTORY
When thinking about the most famous mainstream black artists nowadays, one think is striking. Their
growing association with the art world. It's not a coincidence. If years ago, the most important thing in Hip Hop culture was «street cred» the new way to make it big among mainstream black artists is now «art history cred». Jay -Z sang in a New York art gallery, Pharrell discuss art with Jeff Koons, buy top Keith Haring works and have now an exhibition in Paris, while Kayne West was previously associated with Takashi Murakami who designed many of his records. Let's hope Eminem will soon follow the exemple of GM, Ford and Chrysler and help the Detroit Art Institute keep its major art collection as the city attempt to recover from bankruptcy.

PHILOSOPHY FOR THE 21st CENTURY: LES IDIOTS UTILES

LIFE 101 FOR THE YOUNG AND DUMB
Don't show it off in your twenties, regret it for the rest of your life after 40....
«ART IS A SPIRITUAL QUEST» -CAMILLE PAGLIA
The glittering New York crowd that Andy Warhol loved paid tribute to him yesterday at one of his favorite New York places. More than 2,000 people crowded into St. Patrick's Cathedral for a memorial mass honoring the late artist.
They came from the worlds of art, fashion, society and entertainment, and some of their names were among the world's most droppable - Halston, Liza Minnelli, Ann Bass, Klaus von Bulow, Claes Oldenburg, Grace Jones, Richard Gere and Prince and Princess Michael of Greece. In an altar banked with tulips and forsythia, the Rev. Anthony Dalla Villa, the celebrant, eulogized Mr. Warhol, who died Feb. 22 after a gall-bladder operation, as ''a simple, humble, modest person, a child of God who in his own life cherished others.''
Father Dalla Villa said that Mr. Warhol was able to ''take the very simple and ordinary objects of life and make them truly extraordinary.'' He added, ''He was the Christian gentle man, the Christian gentleman.'' 'Fooled the World'
The service emphasized Mr. Warhol's sprituality and passion for his Catholic religion. The Rev. C. Hugh Hildesley, pastor of the Church of the Heavenly Rest, wrote a tribute in the program that described how Mr. Warhol habitually spent Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter at the church, serving food to the homeless. John Richardson, the art historian and critic, said Mr. Warhol had ''fooled the world into believing that his only obsessions were money, fame and glamor, and that he was cool to the point of callousness.'' But he was, in fact, ''more of a recording angel,'' Mr. Richardson said. ''The distance he established between the world and himself was above all a matter of innocence and of art.''
