SUPERSTARS AND WRESTLING DIVAS
Before there were stars. Then Andy Warhol came in the 1960's and coined the term Superstar. In this new century this trend of inventing new terms and definitions have only increased. If the term Diva used to mean famous opera singers à la Maria Callas or Renata Tebalni now it's more likely to refer to a pop culture «wrestling Diva», «Las Vegas Diva» or even «Sex Diva» No wonder we now have porn superstars as well. I guess Andy would approve...
FROM ANDY WARHOL TO PARIS HILTON
During his life Andy Warhol was famous for not talking much. Often he would just say «Gee, that's great». Today Paris Hilton had followed the same tactic. And considering the result one has to say like her: «That's Hot». Warhol also believed that «shopping was more american than thinking». And today stars have replaced models on magazines covers to become walking billboards for various fashion and beauty products. As artist Barbara Kruger would remind us: «I shop therefore I am».

This summer a new collection of Warhol inspired goods will be available at select Burton retailers worldwide. «As ardent admirers of Warhol's work and legacy we were very honored when The Andy Warhol Fondation sought us out to collaborate on a snowboard collection» said Greg Dacyshyn creative director of product at Burton. «Andy Warhol's irreverent attitude towards art fashion music and life in general embodies what snowboarding and Burton is all about. MONTAUK
Warhol's property in Montauk at the tip of Long island was sold yesterday. The buyer is Millard Drexler chief executive of clothing retailer J.Crew. The selling price was 28 millions.

You were a great boxer à la Muhamad Ali, you had a great voice à la Nat King Cole or you were a great painter like Matisse. Then fame became about being a best selling artist. You were famous because you were selling albums like Madonna, Michael Jackson or Céline Dion. In the 21 st century fame is rapidly changing once again. It's doesn't matter anymore if you're a best selling artist or not. In the Internet era where celebrities are known more for what they're wearing or what kind of makeup they're using than for what they have achieved only one thing now counts: How much stuff your name help selling. Britney Spears and Paris Hilton sell copies. And that's all they need to do.
