«I LIKE BORING THINGS»

«In his catalogue introduction to the first Andy Warhol retrospective, held in Philadelphia in 1965, Samuel Adam Green remarked: Warhol's pictorial language consists of stereotypes. Not only our time has a culture known so many commodities which are absolutely impersonal, machine-made and untouched by human hands...Warhol accepts rather than questions our popular habits and heroes.  By accepting their inevitability, they are easier to deal with than if they are opposed...We accept the glorified legend in preference to the actuality of our immediate experiences, so much so that the legend becomes commonplace and, finally, devoid of the very qualities which first interested us».
