MY THANK YOU
Just read this new book THANK YOU ANDY WARHOL by Catherine Johnson. I liked when Bob Colacello said that Warhol truly enjoyed TV more than art films, and plastic more than marble. But after reading the book I thought to the many thank you I would have to say to many artists. So here they are:
-Thank you Andy Warhol. When I discovered your work at 16 years old, I learned that art could be fun and unpretentious.
-Thank you Robert Rauschenberg for your absolutely beautiful, charming and witty presence in the wonderful movie about you, Man at Work.
-Thank you Keith Haring for reminding people how you needed to be back at Paradise Garage on the weekends. I understand so much. Thank you for your party of life. Thank you for your many beautiful records covers.
-Thank you Kenny Scharf for being so moving when talking about the last moments of Keith Haring.
-Thank you Jeff Koons for the fantastic work you did with the BMW art car. One of the best in the serie.
-Thank you B.B. King for this memorable duo with Ruth Brown when you both sang: Ain't nobody's business. So beautiful.
-Thank you Oscar Wilde. You were truly a genius.
-Thank you Divine for your gorgeous music videos and films. John Waters is right. You were indeed «the most beautiful woman in the world»!
