«Everybody» is a perfect clube record. It's got the beat and it has the hook you want to know better, a hook that's all together, etc. It seems to be all electronic, drum machine and synthesizers, but these are programmed straight from the heart and the hip control center. The lilting little tune seduces innocently, inviting not grabbing, and it's perfectly punctuated with quick pulse that completes an easy-dancing beat. Madonna's voice is elegantly guileless, warm and breathily sexy, without any nasty-girl pretense. The lyrics are not litterature, but they may be classic in their lack of ambition, consisting of little more than invitations to the dance».
