Empire: Four Manhattan galleries, an outlet in Beijing among other art venues, new showroom planned for London.
Artists: Mark Rothko, Bridget Riley, Zhang Xiaogang, Keith Tyson.
Business coup: Beat Gagosian to estate of Willem de Kooning; has secured the services of Mollie Dent-Brocklehurst.
