«I LIKE MONEY ON THE WALL»

THE HAGUE — An Andy Warhol portrait of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands fetched 400,000 euros Tuesday when it went under the hammer in Amsterdam, the auctioneers Christie's said."The picture was sold for 409,000 euros (around 530,000 dollars) to bidders from the Triton foundation", spokesman Maarten van Gijn told AFP, referring to a Dutch body which organises exhibitions.The 1985 portrait was part of a series by the late pop artist known as the "Reigning Queens" which also includes Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and Queen Ntombi Twala Of Swaziland. The portrait will go on display at Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum, the spokesman said.
