MTV has signed new contracts with its biggest stars: those from “Jersey Shore.” MTV said Tuesday night that the cast members would be back for the show’s third season. The announcement is a vote of confidence in the show, given that the second season does not even start until next week. The young regulars — including Nicole Polizzi, better known as Snooki (above right, with Jenni Farley, a k a Jwoww), and Mike Sorrentino, better known as the Situation — became breakout stars when the boozy reality show made its debut last winter. An MTV spokeswoman confirmed that one of the eight cast members, Angelina Pivarnick, would not return for the third season. Some cast mates discovered this year that they could earn tens of thousands of dollars through club appearances and other outside activities, and there were reports that they were holding up production while demanding big raises from MTV
