«DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THEY WRITE ABOUT YOU. JUST MEASURE IT IN INCHES»
NEW YORK—“Don’t pay any attention to what they write about you,” Andy Warhol once advised. “Just measure it in inches.” By that gauge, he would likely be pleased with the number of words that have been written attempting to make sense of his life and his work. And with the eminent publication of the third volume of his catalogue raisonné that mass of material is about to get a even larger. Art publisher Phaidon has announced that the book, which covers Warhol’s paintings and sculptures from 1970 to 1974 — as the artist was returning to painting with his series of portraits of Mao after a period of devoting himself to film — will be released in June. Clocking in at 544 pages and retailing for $495, it is a hulking work by almost any measure.
