OBAMA AND THE EMERGENCE OF A POST PEREZ HILTON WORLD
This is definitely the biggest story of our time," says Arianna Huffington, whose three-year-old website The Huffington Post was prescient in its blurring of politics and celebrity. Huffington, who threw a party in D.C. on Monday night that was attended by the likes of Robert DeNiro, Ben Affleck, Larry David and Sarah Silverman, says having a thinking man in the White House will usher in a new age of celebrity culture."Even in his inauguration speech, he was talking about America's need to turn away from childishness," says Huffington, reached Wednesday morning in a car on her way to Reagan Airport en route to JFK. "Our culture cannot just be an endless supply of trivialities. From what we read to what we consume to what we look at, I think and I hope that Obama changes everything."
