Nowadays Takashi Murakami claims that the historical gap between high and low culture have never been so narrow. He refers to that as a kind of new superflat culture. In the pre Renaissance era artisans became artists. In one sense this new superflat culture annonces the growing trend of the future where artists will once again be known mainly as artisans.
