«Management companies and artists are becoming increasingly annoyed at the alleged underhand accounting practices which record labels are said to be increasingly employing. The issue made the news recently when Linda Perry initiated a lawsuit against Warner Music accusing them of failing to distribute revenues from the retail of James Blunt's "Back to Bedlam". This seems to be the tip of the iceberg though. Many other management groups are starting to kick up a fuss, especially in regard to the so-called 'New Media', and the digital distribution it encompasses. These groups are claiming that neither they, nor their artists are yet to see a penny from ad-supported licensing deals, such as the one struck by the labels with YouTube. Music attorney Chris Castle told cNet, “I don't know any artist who has gotten a royalty statement. (from their label that includes YouTube money)”
