«OH, ART IS TOO HARD»

The history of modern art is also the history of the progressive loss of art's audience. Art has increasingly become the concern of the artist and the bafflement of the public.

  1. I have to agree, but then I think artist's are partly to blame for this outcome. When an artist stops caring about their audience and creates solely for themselves, they destroy the essence of visual communication. I try to remain conscious of what other people enjoy viewing when I paint, without compromising my own interests. Of course, I know I can't make everybody happy, but at least I'm creating imagery that relates to a larger audience than myself.
