«CHURCH IS A FUN PLACE TO GO»

«IT'S CALLED GOSSIP AND OF COURSE, IT'S AN OBSESSION OF MINE»

«SHOPPING IS MORE AMERICAN THAN THINKING»

«ART IS WHAT YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH»

«I LIKE TO WORK WHEN I'M NOT WORKING»

«This dramatic image of the artist in turmoil was the exact opposite of how Warhol represented himself in his art and his elaborately manufactured personal posture. Andy Warhol wanted to be happy. « Success a job in New York». Warhol didn't consider himself a shaman or a mystic. He was an artist, but also a worker, a businessman and a fan. He was an artist who recorded the world around him. Warhol, although he was interested in flamboyant personalities, didn't see self-destruction as a creative process. He wasn't looking for mystical illumination, bu a good idea and hard work»

«The illustration for «Letter to a Problem Corner» bring Andy Warhol back to our pages.
When he's not at his drawing board, Andy is circling the globe. And in his rare spare time he's a collector-of «modern art and american junk».

PHILOSOPHY FOR THE 21st CENTURY: THE REGRESSIVE LEFT

Demonstrations worldwide against Trump, and not one single demonstration against Islamic fundamentalism since sept 11. If that doesn't says it all about the stupidity of the regressive left.

«POP ART IS FOR EVERYONE»

«Pop art dates from the mid-1950's and originated almost simultaneously in the United States and Britain. In London the artist-printmaker Richard Hamilton defined it as «Popular» (designed for a mass audience), transient ( short- term solution), expendable (easily forgotten), low cost, mass produced, young ( aimed at youth) witty, sexual-gimmicky: glamorous, and big business»

«I JUST READ EVERYTHING» ( DONALD TRUMP IN PLAYBOY MAGAZINE 1990)

Sometimes you sound like a Presidential candidate stirring up the voters.
I don't want the Presidency. I'm going to help a lot of people with my foundation—and for me, the grass isn't always greener.
But if the grass ever did look greener, which political party do you think you'd be more comfortable with?
Well, if I ever ran for office, I'd do better as a Democrat than as a Republican—and that's not because I'd be more liberal, because I'm conservative. But the working guy would elect me. He likes me. When I walk down the street, those cabbies start yelling out their windows.
Another game: What's the first thing President Trump would do upon entering the Oval Office?
Many things. A toughness of attitude would prevail. I'd throw a tax on every Mercedes-Benz rolling into this country and on all Japanese products, and we'd have wonderful allies again.

«GOOD BUSINESS IS THE BEST ART»

Market observers have not been slow to note the similarities between Trump’s approach to business and that of Andy Warhol, who set up his studio production and promotional publishing machine in ways that correspond to Trump’s real estate and self-promotion machinery.

Artnet noted explicit similarities between Trump’s business philosophy outlined in The Art of the Deal and Warhol’s The Philosophy of Andy Warhol: “Making money is art, and working is art and good business is the best art,” Warhol said succinctly.
Trump meanwhile offered this: “I don’t do it for the money. I’ve got enough, much more than I’ll even need. Deals are my art form. Other people paint beautifully on canvas or write wonderful poetry. I like making deals, preferably big deals. That’s how I get my kicks.”

ANDY WARHOL ON DONALD TRUMP

Had to meet Donald Trump at the office. Marc Balet had set up this meeting. I keep forgetting that Marc gave up architecture o become an art director, but he still builds models at home, he told me. He's designing  catalog for all the stores in the atrium at the Trump Tower and he told Donald Trump that I should do a portrait of the building that would hang over the entrance of the residential part. So they came down to talk about that. Donald Trump is really good-looking.  A girl named Evans was with him and another lady. It was so strange, these people are so rich. They talked about buying a building yesterday for $500 million or something. They raved about the Balducci's lunch, but they just picked at it. I guess because they go around to so many things where there's food. And they didn't have drinks, they all just had Tabs.

-The Andy Warhol Diaries
April 24 1981

And I just hate the Trumps because they never bought my Trump Tower portraits. And I also hate them because the cabs on the upper level of their ugly Hyatt  Hotel just back up traffic so badly around Grand Central
now, and it takes me so long to get home.
